You forget that Memphis already has a football rivalry with Ole Miss.

FWIW the rivalry is known as the "Mid-South Rivalry." Right now it may be one-sided (Ole Miss leads, 49-11-2), but then again you could say the same thing about The Palmetto Bowl (Clemson leads, 68–42–4).

Then Memphis has/had basketball rivalries with Arkansas and Tennessee. Honestly, it may not be difficult for Memphis to develop a basketball rivalry with Kentucky. Kinda like how one has somewhat formed with Duke and UNC to a lesser extent. I believe Memphis and Tennessee have a secondary football rivalry. If Tennessee isn't willing to play VT or Memphis regularly, then maybe Vandy is willing to step up to the plate and start to play Memphis annually. It may actually be a competitive series since both teams have a ceiling of middle of the pack right now. It can't be any worse than the Bluegrass Rivarly.

While there aren't any good options in AL, MS, LA, AR, and MO, I don't see anything wrong with indirectly crossing AR and MS off the list since the are single school/conference states. You could probably consider Ole Miss & Miss State as being joined at the hip. Plus, Memphis has a basketball and football rivalry with L'ville which could only help the conference.

As far as UConn goes, I don't disagree that a rivalry could form with BC. However, can UConn football improve where it would somewhat regularly competitive with the middle of the pack or will it consistently reside in the cellar? I am not sure being in the ACC would be enough for UConn to convince more recruits from the Gulf Coast/Southeast to come play football in Storrs. Whereas, Memphis already has established pipelines in the Gulf Coast/Southeast. So I would think Memphis would benefit more from being in the ACC than UConn.
